Wellness Groups and Workshops

As part of the Stepped Care approach, this option includes:
- In-person group therapy to support student mental health;
- Best practice approaches for depression, anxiety, stress and interpersonal relationships;
- An opportunity to develop a sense of community and resiliency;
- Possible referral by a therapist to a group that fits your interests and needs.
Drop-In Wellness Groups and Therapeutic Workshops
Counsellors hosts regular therapeutic group activities that aim to empower students and foster resilience. These activities range in topics and format—from online webinars to art therapy groups, allowing you to participate in the activities that best suit your needs.
These sessions are facilitated by professional counsellors and peer counsellors to provide an opportunity for students to learn, share and connect in a safe and confidential space.
Support group for students from racialized communities
Support group for students from racialized communities

This support group is for University of Ottawa students from racialized communities in general. Racialized communities are defined as all people who are non-Caucasian or non-white. It will be facilitated by two psychotherapists of colour. This group is the ideal place for you to get a sense of perspective and understanding of what is happening in and around you.
To participate, send an email to couns@uOttawa.ca. Participating students must live in Ontario.
The meetings will be held using Microsoft Teams software. They will be bilingual.

Support group for students belonging to Black communities

Do you consider that your skin colour raises certain challenges that make it difficult for you to cope?
This support group is for uOttawa students belonging to Black communities. It will be facilitated by two racialized psychotherapists [Pierre, K. Bercy, MBA, MA, RP(Q), CCC and Bernadette Ingungu, M.A Counselling, RP (Q), CCC.] and will be an opportunity to take stock of the situation and to better understand what is going on inside you and around you.

Mindful Roads

Amidst a life that has turned mostly virtual, it can be very powerful to connect with nature and with ourselves. This community aims to support you and to keep you accountable in your desire to step away from your screen and to find time during the week to move your body outdoors.
You set your own pace and design your own routine. The counsellors and the rest of the community are here to accompany you and support you once you come home and reconnect.
